Taylor Builders Durango is a general contractor with 25 years of experience building custom homes and completing remodels in Durango, Colorado. The business grew entirely through word of mouth, so the owners never had a website.
The owners knew they needed a website and wanted to stay ahead of the curve on their marketing, even though business was good. They were already booked out, so the goal was a professional site to represent the company and showcase the portfolio.
They came to me with a logo, but no formal branding, so I created the branding direction for the site myself. I reviewed sites the owners admired to learn which design elements they liked. We went in the direction of a clean, modern, and uncluttered layout, so I kept every page simple, which kept the focus on their own images and portfolio works.
I chose a dark hunter green paired with warm tan neutrals, drawing from the greens in the owners' own project photos. The palette was designed to be professional and inviting to build trust with prospective clients.
The portfolio was the top priority. Each project opened in a popup gallery on a single page, so visitors could browse every project without leaving the page or hunting through menus. The goal was fewer clicks to keep visitors engaged and move them toward the contact form. The portfolio page was also built to support a filter option so it could grow over time.
We included a before and after slider to showcase remodel transformations, giving visitors a quick look at the quality of the work. While we didn’t include a formal SEO strategy in this website, the whole site was SEO-optimized. This included an about page and a contact page with a form, business hours, the office address, and an embedded Google Map, to give search engines clear local signals.
