Squarespace 7.1 Build, SEO Strategy, and Local Search Setup
Stone Peak Power is a Generac dealer in Southwest Colorado. They sell, install, and service home standby generators across the Four Corners region.
Their old website was built and owned by Generac. Edits were difficult and the website platform was extremely limited. Julia wanted a site she controlled that had and was built to compete with local companies already investing in SEO.
We started with SEO services which included a competitor and keyword audit that showed where the local market was crowded, and where Stone Peak could compete. That research and brand positioning set the site structure and overall plan before any design work began. The brand positioning was a critical piece. Everything we did from there on out focused on making it clear that Stone Peak Power is the generator experts in the area.
For UX, most of Stone Peak's customers are over 55, so we kept the design simple. This included obvious buttons, clarity and structure for AI search engines, easy to read text, and contact information and CTA’s in the top 30% of the page for improved conversions. The color palette came from the Stone Peak logo instead of Generac's navy and orange, which gave the site its own identity.
Julia needed to keep the old Generac site live because it connects to warranty perks for her customers. This was an edge case and required a little extra attention. We ended up moving it to a subdomain and planned the SEO strategy around it.
What we focused on:
Competitor/keyword research and brand positioning before design started
Squarespace 7.1 build with custom CSS and subtle hover effects
Separate service pages for maintenance and repair and for new generator installs
Service pages structured for local search, with contact options above the fold, trust signals, FAQs, and testimonials
A portable generator shop page built to match shopping searches, with inquiry buttons in place of checkout
Geo-targeted page template, ready to reuse for each region Stone Peak serves
Local directory citations and a Google Business Profile cleanup plan
Old Generac site moved to a subdomain and worked into the SEO plan
Custom video tutorials for ongoing self-management
Julia now edits her own site and the SEO has continued to compound over time driving real leads right out of the gate.
SEO Results
Comparing July to December 2025 with January to July 2026, Google Search Console shows:
Clicks up 79% (123 to 220)
Impressions more than doubled (4.91K to 10.2K)
Average position improved from 39.9 to 21.8
Currently ranking #1 on ChatGPT for search queries such as “home generator installation durango co”
We had talked about ongoing SEO work after launch. The site performed so well after launch that we never started it!
