Micklich Bassoon Studio
Dr. Albie Micklich is the bassoon professor at Arizona State University. He is regularly recruiting new students into his studio, recording new music, performing with faculty, and selling instruments in the bassoon and oboe family on behalf of Fox Double Reeds. Dr. Micklich needed a professional, clean website that would help him promote everything required of a professional musician and university educator.
Squarespace was the perfect platform because Albie would be able to maintain the website himself—adding new events, new student resources, videos, and more.
We launched this website just before the release of Fluid Engine in 2022. Since then we have continued to update it to keep it current with best practices. A year after we launched Albie’s bassoon website, he reached out to me about a second page to promote the instruments he was selling as a Fox Double Reed representative.
We ultimately decided this would be better suited as a second website with a new business name and logo. Albie wanted a logo that showcased his regional area (the desert) and something that had both and oboe and a bassoon. We created a compact logo with a desert scene-scape and interchangeable elements. The logo was designed in a way that it could support just bassoon, just oboe, or both.
For the website, Albie didn’t need to accept payment on his new e-commerce site for Sonoran Double Reeds, so we set it up in a way where he could showcase the full Fox inventory and drive traffic to a contact form. It was originally a page on his old site, but when he was ready we transferred it over to a new Squarespace site.
